Questions, answered without the trimming

The thorny ones too — how an advance reshapes your room to borrow afterward, what a collapsing season does to repayment, and the reasoning behind how this capital is priced.

If a cash advance is not a loan, what is it?

It is a sale, plain and simple, and the line is a legal one rather than marketing. A named dollar sum of sales you have yet to collect moves to us, we pay a discounted price now, and we get that sum back out of your settlements as they arrive. Since nothing was lent, there is no rate, no APR and no maturity date — those belong to debt. Anyone selling you an advance as a loan has either misread the product or is betting that you will.

How does the factor-rate math work?

Once. You multiply a single time and stop. Seventy-five thousand at 1.30 means we are buying $97,500 of your coming sales, and the $22,500 between the two numbers is everything the money costs — full stop, with nothing added down the line. Time never touches that gap. Clear it in six months or eleven and it is still $22,500, the mirror image of how interest treats a running balance. You can work the sum on a napkin before signing, and the napkin will be right.

A month of soft sales — now what?

What leaves your account drops the same week your sales do, with nobody lifting a finger. We take a share, not a flat figure, so a month at half pace returns roughly half, and the calendar simply lengthens to cover the rest. Nothing gets missed, because no payment was ever scheduled to miss. That is why seasonal owners reach for an advance before anything else. An outright collapse in revenue, as opposed to a dip, is a separate talk, and one to have with us early.

I have an advance out already. Can you still fund me?

Frequently, yes, on one rule: list the open position on the application — the holder, the balance left, the daily pull. Put that in front of an underwriter and we are able to price a second position once the deposits clearly carry two pulls. When they do not, the smarter move is usually consolidating the open balance into one position rather than piling on a third. Hide a position and the file is declined here, and hiding one is also how an owner ends up with a row of debits hitting the account on a single morning. Verification finds it every time, so there is no upside to leaving it off.

Can I renew, and is early payoff possible?

Two things in one, so let us separate them. Early payoff first: the amount we buy is locked — $97,500 in the site’s own example — so handing it over in five months instead of eight trims the calendar without touching that figure. Want a break for delivering early? Write it into the paperwork at the outset, because it cannot be added on afterward. Renewals run the opposite way. Once you are well past the midpoint, nothing bounced and the collection clean, we will underwrite afresh against your latest statements. That is a new call on new numbers, not something you are owed.

What paperwork do you need?

On an advance, a credit line or an equipment deal, bring four months of bank statements as full PDFs, photo ID for the signer, a voided business check, and whatever document shows the entity is real — the EIN letter or formation filing, usually. That is the lot, and we ask for nothing beyond it. A term loan over a quarter-million also wants a recent profit-and-loss statement added. SBA is its own beast: years of returns, interim numbers, a debt schedule and a plan set down in writing, which goes a long way toward explaining the 30-to-90-day wait.

Honestly, how fast is funding?

On an advance, a whole file in by morning is often decided that same day and funded in as little as 24 to 48 hours once you sign. A credit line or an equipment deal takes a few business days. An SBA loan runs 30 to 90 days, and chasing it does not move the needle. The delays we actually see trace back to the same two culprits nearly every time: statements sent as photos, and a position that only surfaces at verification.

Any industries you will not fund?

Ask in the opening minute of the first call and you will hear a straight yes or no before you gather a single document. The no-go list is short: gambling, cannabis, firearms and ammunition, adult entertainment, debt settlement and debt-relief services, plus anything a federal or state law makes illegal. Beyond that we are open on purpose — tow operators, staffing firms, seasonal contractors and independent repair shops are routine files here, and most are trades a bank branch brushes off without ever opening the account.

Could this hurt my chances of borrowing later?

It can, and better to know now than later. An advance does not show up on your report as a loan, yet we do lodge a UCC-1 over your receivables, and that sits in the public record for any later underwriter to spot. Some lenders see an open position and stop reading right there. A clean delivery record is what helps — it matters to us at renewal, and it matters to whoever reads the file after us.

How does collection actually happen?

Two ways, and your agreement spells out which one is yours. A processor split peels our share off at the source: the card batch is divided before the rest reaches you, so nothing leaves once the cash is already yours. An ACH debit fits a business taking a blend of cash, checks and transfers — we draw an agreed sum from the account each banking day and square it against what truly came in. The method, the percentage and the account are all on the page before you sign, and neither setup lets us touch more than the slice you signed off on.

Who do I call when trading starts to shift?

Call while it is still on the horizon, not once it has already hit. A lease lost, a processor swapped out, a key customer gone quiet, a season breaking three weeks early — each is manageable while the account still performs and nearly hopeless once it does not. The space to restructure disappears right at the moment you need it most. Your funding manager is the one to reach; the direct line is on your agreement, and apply@linkyourcapital.com reaches that same desk. We would much sooner hear from you a month ahead than a week behind.
